Joseph Calvaruso worked for banks in Kalamazoo and South Haven before joining the campaign trail full time for Vice President Cheney and President Bush.

In 1977, President Gerald R. Ford came to Albion College to announce the establishment of the Gerald R. Ford Institute for Public Policy and Service. It was the first institute in the country to train undergraduates for careers in public service.
